The News That Changed Everything

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest news in human history. I make that claim without hesitation and with full confidence — because no other event in the record of humanity comes close. Empires have risen and fallen. Discoveries have reshaped civilizations. Wars have redrawn borders. But none of these events answered the deepest cry of the human soul. None of them conquered the grave.

"The resurrection of Jesus is the greatest news in human history. I challenge you to say which other news for humanity comes close."

— Original quote by the author

The resurrection of Jesus carries with it a breathtaking implication for every believer: because He was raised, we too are raised with Him — not merely in some far-off future, but in a spiritual reality that is already ours right now. The Apostle Paul declares this with stunning clarity:

"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus." — Ephesians 2:6–7 (NIV)

Notice the tense of that passage. Paul does not say God will raise us up. He says God raised us up — past tense. Our resurrection life is not a future promise alone; it is a present possession. We are already seated with Christ in heavenly places. This is the staggering reality of the gospel.

Hope for the Hopeless

"The resurrection means there is hope for the hopeless, there is victory for the victims, precious promises for those WITHOUT promises."

— Original quote by the author

The resurrection means that the thing every human being fears throughout all the days of their life — death itself — does not have the last word. The One who was raised from the dead does: Jesus Christ, the Lord of life.

"O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." — 1 Corinthians 15:55–57 (ESV)
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?'" — John 11:25–26 (ESV)

Death was the great enemy of humanity. It stalked every generation, swallowed every empire, and held every soul in its cold grip. But on the third day, Jesus walked out of the tomb — and death itself was defeated. The grave could not hold Him (Acts 2:24), and because it could not hold Him, it cannot hold those who belong to Him.

From Death to Life: A Personal Word

"One of the things I remember before I became a Christian was the deep sense of hopelessness. I felt hopeless not merely because I was going through a phase, but because I was dead in sins and transgressions. My hopelessness was a spiritual symptom of me being spiritually dead."

— Original quote by the author

These words from my own testimony carry a weight that I do not share lightly. Before Christ found me, there was a deep, pervasive hopelessness in my soul — not the kind that comes from a difficult season or a passing hardship, but the kind that rises from the very condition of spiritual death. I was, as Paul describes, dead in trespasses and sins:

"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience — among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind." — Ephesians 2:1–3 (ESV)

That was my condition. And I believe it is the condition of many people in this world today. There is a deep hopelessness in the human soul that people try to drown out with distractions — entertainment, success, pleasure, busyness. Over time, they learn to live with the void. They learn to cope, to get by, to manage the emptiness. But this is a dangerous place to settle.

"Learning to cope and get by in this world is dangerous, because such a person, while doing this, at the same time learns to resist the Holy Spirit who is pointing them to Christ — the only One who can give them eternal life."

— Original quote by the author
"And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this... 'This is the covenant I will make with them after those days,' says the Lord. 'I will put My laws on their hearts and write them on their minds.'" — Hebrews 10:15–16 (BSB)

The Spirit of God is at work in the world, drawing hearts to Christ (John 6:44). But when a person grows comfortable in their coping mechanisms, they are in danger of hardening their heart against the very One who can save them. Stephen's words echo across the centuries: "You always resist the Holy Spirit!" (Acts 7:51). The tragedy is not that God is unwilling — it is that people learn to ignore His voice.

Raised With Christ: The Believer's Reality

Now we come to the heart of this message — and what a glorious heart it is. The resurrection is not merely a historical event we celebrate; it is a spiritual reality we participate in. When Jesus rose from the dead, every believer shared in His resurrection. Let that truth saturate your heart.

"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his." — Romans 6:4–5 (NIV)
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." — Colossians 3:1–3 (NIV)

But these truths are not for the whole world indiscriminately — they are for those who accept the message of the cross. They are for those who believe that His sacrifice was for them, who have placed their faith in Him, and who confess Him as Lord:

"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." — Romans 10:9–10 (NIV)

What Eye Has Not Seen

The Apostle Paul, writing to the church in Corinth, reminds us that the realities God has prepared for His people are beyond the reach of human imagination:

"But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.' But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God." — 1 Corinthians 2:9–10 (NKJV)

Our union with Christ in His resurrection is one of those things — a reality so glorious that it surpasses natural comprehension. Yet God has not left us in the dark. He has revealed these truths to us through His Spirit. The tragedy, however, is that many believers remain ignorant of what is already theirs in Christ.

"The Lord wants all believers to know these truths. Paul said in Romans and elsewhere, 'Knowing this' or 'Don't you know?' — the truth is, many believers do not know these liberating truths."

— Original quote by the author
"Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?" — Romans 6:3 (NIV)
"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst?" — 1 Corinthians 3:16 (NIV)

Paul's repeated use of "don't you know" is not a rebuke — it is an urgent invitation. He longs for believers to grasp the depth of what God has done for them. These are liberating truths. They break chains. They dispel darkness. They transform how we see ourselves, our struggles, and our future.

Our Victory Is Already Won

"Our victory is in the past. Our resurrection is in the past, as the Scripture clearly shows."

— Original quote by the author

This is one of the most liberating truths in all of Scripture: the victory has already been won. We are not fighting for victory — we are fighting from victory. Christ has already conquered sin, death, and the grave. And because we are in Him, His victory is our victory.

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." — 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV)
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." — Romans 8:37 (NIV)
"He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." — Colossians 1:13–14 (ESV)

The Call: Come and Share in His Resurrection

And so the call goes out — not as a self-help program or a temporary fix, but as an invitation to new life. We are not offering the world three steps or ten steps to improvement. We are not calling people to a temporary relationship. We are calling them to resurrection life in Jesus Christ.

"Our call as believers to sinners to come to the cross, repenting of their sins and turning to Christ, is also to come and share in His resurrection now — because on judgment day, if they are found outside of Christ, it will be too late for their souls."

— Original quote by the author
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16 (ESV)

"We are not sharing some three-step or ten-step program. We are not calling people to a temporary relationship, but to new life in Christ. Indeed the song is true — because He lives, tomorrow."

— Original quote by the author

Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because He rose, we are raised. Because He conquered, we are more than conquerors. This is the greatest news in history — and it is for you.
